{"id":3089,"date":"2007-02-02T09:59:07","date_gmt":"2007-02-02T09:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/viamedia\/2007\/02\/different-paradigms.html"},"modified":"2007-02-02T09:59:07","modified_gmt":"2007-02-02T09:59:07","slug":"different-paradigms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/viamedia\/2007\/02\/different-paradigms.html","title":{"rendered":"Different paradigms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is a rather strange story from the Fort Worth diocese. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesrecordnews.com\/trn\/local_news\/article\/0,1891,TRN_5784_5322629,00.html\">A priest was removed from parish ministry in February, with the announcement that he had sexually abused a minor when he was in his 20&#8217;s. <\/a>There is some confusion as to whether it was a one-time offense or if it occurred repeatedly (the current evidence seems to point to the latter), but the salient point is this&nbsp; &#8211; this happened before the priest was in seminary, and he informed the bishop about it. The bishop knew. The guy was a late vocation, ordained in 2001, and he&#8217;s 56 now. The vicar general of the diocese:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>If anybody destroyed him, it was (Bishop) Delaney. Why was (Pansza) ever ordained? In 2001? With the knowledge of this? The church was in the throes of all sorts of these problems,&quot; Olson said. <\/p>\n<p>According to church records, Delaney decided that enough time had passed that Pansza was not a risk to children. <\/p>\n<p>But with current thinking on the subject, Vann could do nothing less than remove Pansza, Olson said. &quot;You have a priest who has admitted to an act of sexual misconduct with a minor, and you&#8217;re going to leave him in a position where he has ready access to children?
