{"id":3010,"date":"2006-04-17T21:33:48","date_gmt":"2006-04-17T21:33:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/viamedia\/2006\/04\/nope-2.html"},"modified":"2006-04-17T21:33:48","modified_gmt":"2006-04-17T21:33:48","slug":"nope-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/viamedia\/2006\/04\/nope-2.html","title":{"rendered":"Nope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sanluisobispo.com\/mld\/sanluisobispo\/news\/14362641.htm\">Supreme Court rules against Cardinal Mahony<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Supreme Court on Monday refused to interfere in a California prosecutor&#8217;s efforts to obtain confidential counseling records kept by the Catholic Church on two priests under investigation for molesting children.<\/p>\n<p>The justices, without comment, declined to hear an appeal by the church of a state court ruling that permitted the Los Angeles district attorney to subpoena records generated by Cardinal Roger Mahony and the priests in dealing with concerns about child sexual abuse.<\/p>\n<p>The subpoenas are significant because similar records are being sought in hundreds of lawsuits filed by sexual abuse victims across the nation.
