They serve their purpose, sure, but you want to make sure that your money and assistance is going as directly to those in need as possible. So you might always be on the lookout for ways to directly help out struggling schools, orphanages, clinics and so on. A lot of parishes and dioceses have just such direct relationships. <\/p>\n<p>So..as an example of such a worthy object for our charity, here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scopefoundation.com\/SCOPEFoundation.asp\">SCOPE: <\/a>Salvadoran Children of the Poor Education Foundation &#8211; a group that funds a single school in El Salvador. A Friend Of This Blog is on the board, and shared some info with me &#8211; sounds like a great ministry.<\/p>\n<p>And&#8230;if you have any suggestions along those lines &#8211; charitable institutions here or abroad that depend on individual donations to survive, and that do great work&#8230;post them here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;re like most people, you want to help others, you want to be a faithful disciple and do as Jesus commands &#8211; to love, to serve. Amy has five children, ranging in age from 26 to 4 and was married to Michael Dubruiel, who died unexpectedly in February 2009.
