The Archdiocese, that is. Whispers on the Loggia has a post on the subject<\/a>, reflecting on a NYTimes article. I don’t think the logistical\/administrative situation is as dire as Rocco suggests. As some commentors on his post point out, post-War situations have left Church organizations in much more damaged situations. Further, reading the posts at the Archdiocesan forum<\/a> shows that the institutions of the Archdiocese are by no means a total loss. Yes, it seems as if there are large sections of the city gone, and some parts of other parishes, but many of the posts give quite positive reports of the states of buildings and neighborhoods. An acknowledgment of lots of work ahead, but hope that things will eventually be back on track. <\/p>\n

More intriguing are the arguments, raging here and there on the board, about priests and the evacuation. A couple (or maybe it’s the same person posting under different names) of posters are castigating the priests of the archdiocese for evacuating, and not staying with the flock.
