It&#8217;s not just Yahoo, of course. It&#8217;s Google, big time. <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 0.8em\">My husband and I belong to a Yahoo Group with a Catholic base (all members, all topics are related to our faith).&nbsp; A recent discussion involved our use of Yahoo (edited below):<\/span><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>I have read more than one article about Yahoo&#8217;s complicity in handing <\/span><span>over internet users in China to be tried as criminals.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Today this <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 0.8em\">article <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/12390324\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span><span style=\"font-size: 0.8em\">(http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/12390324\/<\/span><\/span><\/a><span>) gives me pause to ask: <\/span><span>[as Catholics] we are to consider the oppressed and underserved in <\/span><span>all that we do.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Should we boycott Yahoo&#8217;s services as a way to protest <\/span><span>their practices?&nbsp; <\/span><span>I raise the question to spur conversation. I think we should consider <\/span><span>a course of action because in all things both big and small it matters <\/span><span>what we say and do.&nbsp; <span>&nbsp;<\/span>Where are we on this?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>I would be inclined to agree with you.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>The fact that China provides <\/span><span>us with so much stuff that we do not need, should not justify our <\/span><span>overlooking their human rights record and policies.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Part of our role <\/span><span>is to be a witness and a model in our support for those that<\/span><span>&nbsp;<\/span><span>are oppressed, and suffering.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>To the best of my knowledge, and ability, I <\/span><span>do not buy anything from China and haven&#8217;t for years.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>Realizing that this <\/span><span>could compromise our ability to share information within the group, I would <\/span><span>support not using Yahoo, and letting the company know the reason.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>My guess <\/span><span>is that we would find that not using Yahoo would not be that much of a<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>sacrifice for us, after all the USPS still functions, and they are not <\/span><span>affiliated with China, well, I don&#8217;t think that they are.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 0.8em\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 0.8em\"><span>+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++<\/span><\/span><span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I agree.&nbsp; . . . But I would add &#8211; as one of my bosses once told me &#8211; if you bring me a problem you best come with a solution in mind.
