In case you don&#8217;t know, it is a charity that provides assistance and support to the Church in mission areas in the US, parishes in which something as simple as obtaining hymnals or vestments, not to speak of being able to pay a pastoral assistant are major, sometimes impossible endeavors. Long-time director of the Extension Society <a href=\"http:\/\/www.catholic-hierarchy.org\/bishop\/bslattery.html\">Edward Slattery is now Bishop of Tulsa. <\/a><br \/>\n\u00a0One of the Society&#8217;s more recent programs is a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.parishpartnership.org\/site\/epage\/47193_659.htm\">Parish Partnership program<\/a>, inspired by the widespread devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.parishpartnership.org\/site\/epage\/49230_659.htm\">A parish we regularly attend has partnered with a Louisana\u00a0 parish with a shared patron &#8211; St. Peter &#8211;<\/a> and has been providing a variety of assistance over the past months, from money to gifts for First Communicants.<br \/>\n<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.foothills.wjduquette.com\/blog\/archives\/1450\">Watching the Tiber Roll By <\/a>&#8211; Will Duquette&#8217;s very graceful telling of the story of his reversion back to Catholicism. Well worth a read. Pray for all of those who are on this journey.<br \/>\nAnd for those of you looking for some spiritual pilgrimage next spring, take a look at the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.selectinternationaltours.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=171&amp;Itemid=1\">web page for Fr. Amy has written columns for Our Sunday Visitor and Catholic News Service at times over the past twenty years. Her articles have been published in venues ranging from Our Sunday Visitor to the New York Times to Commonweal. She has written 17 books. 18, if you included the as yet tragically unpublished novel. Amy has five children, ranging in age from 26 to 4 and was married to Michael Dubruiel, who died unexpectedly in February 2009.
