Libasci of the clergy of the diocese of Rockville Centre, U.S.A., pastor of the parish of St. Therese of Lisieux, as auxiliary of the same diocese (area 3,164, population 3,354,000, Catholics 1,444,000, priests 476, permanent deacons 267, religious 1,397). The bishop-elect was born in Jackson Heights, U.S.A. in 1951 and ordained a priest in 1978. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This is a strange source, but a quick search turned up a bio of Fr. Libasci at the page for a Long Island – area talk show. Being a graduate of St. Meinrad, he appreciates Benedictines, things monastic and medieval:<\/a><\/p>\n

St. Meinrad Archabbey is located in Southern Indiana, just about fifty miles west of Louisville, Kentucky. In 1852 the Benedictine monks of Einsiedeln, Switzerland (established in the Ninth Century and still very active to the present day), came to the United States and established a monastery in what is presently the town of St. Meinrad, Indiana. The monks established a high school, a college and a seminary for the formation of priests.
I continue to visit both St. Meinrad, Indiana and the Abbey of Einsiedeln, Switzerland whenever opportunity arises. <\/p>\n

I have been interested in the art and music of the Middle Ages and enjoy visits to the Metropolitan Museum’s Cloisters in Upper New York City.
