{"id":2052,"date":"2007-04-19T09:07:25","date_gmt":"2007-04-19T09:07:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/viamedia\/2007\/04\/upcoming-nd-events.html"},"modified":"2007-04-19T09:07:25","modified_gmt":"2007-04-19T09:07:25","slug":"upcoming-nd-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/viamedia\/2007\/04\/upcoming-nd-events.html","title":{"rendered":"Upcoming ND events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some notes from Notre Dame:<\/p>\n<p>* <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nd.edu\/encyclical\/\">On April 27 and 28, Notre Dame will host a conference on Benedict&#8217;s encyclical, <em>Deus Caritas Est.<\/em><\/a> Keynote speakers will be <\/p>\n<li>Ms. Mary Brosnahan, director of the Coalition for the Homeless in New York City and a 1983 graduate of Notre Dame <\/li>\n<li>The Very Reverend Philip Anderson, O.S.B., Prior of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clearcreekmonks.org\/\">Our Lady of the Annunciation of Clear Creek Monastery <\/a><\/li>\n<p>* Also, the Orestes Brownson Council and Filii Mariae will host a solemn Mass for the feast of St. Pius V on April 30th at 5:15 pm in the Alumni Hall Chapel at Notre Dame, with the Notre Dame Gregorian Schola providing the proper chants for the Mass. <\/p>\n<p>*Finally, this next Sunday, the <a href=\"http:\/\/nd.edu\/~adore\/procession\/\">3rd annual Notre Dame Eucharistic Procession will take place:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p>On Sunday April 22nd, 2007 the University of Notre Dame will hold its 3rd annual Eucharistic Procession. All are welcome to join the Most Reverend John M. D&#8217;Arcy, Bishop of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend and the Notre Dame community as they celebrate and give witness to Christ&#8217;s prensence in the Eucharist. Co-sponsored by many different groups from Notre Dame, St. Mary&#8217;s, and Holy Cross College, the procession is a revival of an old tradition at the University. <\/p>\n<p>Join us for the 11:45 Mass at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of the University of Notre Dame followed immediately by the procession and a picnic lunch provided by the campus Knights of Columbus. The Catholicism comes from her side. Amy grew up in a number of places - Indiana - Washington, DC - Lubbock Texas - Arlington, Virginia - DeKalb, Illinois - Lawrence, Kansas - and Knoxville, Tennessee, where the family settled in 1973. She attended Knoxville Catholic High School, then the University of Tennessee where she majored in history. She received an MA in Church History from Vanderbilt University, where she wrote a thesis on the changing role of women in 19th century American Protestantism, and the ways Scripture was used to justify those changes. She worked as as a teacher in Catholic high schools and a Parish Director of Religious Education and started writing for the diocesan press - the Florida Catholic - in 1988. Amy has written columns for Our Sunday Visitor and Catholic News Service at times over the past twenty years. Her articles have been published in venues ranging from Our Sunday Visitor to the New York Times to Commonweal. She has written 17 books. 18, if you included the as yet tragically unpublished novel. Amy has five children, ranging in age from 26 to 4 and was married to Michael Dubruiel, who died unexpectedly in February 2009.
