Yes, CBA has its share of celebs, some well-known only in the CBA world, others on a broader stage. Today I saw (but didn’t photograph)Jerry Jenkins (co-author of the Left Behind<\/em> series.) being interviewed with his son, with whom he now writes. Saw Tim and Beverly LaHaye, not at a booth or signing, but sort of appearing out of nowhere (hmmmm) and slowly drifting around, carefully (they’re getting old) picking their way around the crowds, only some of whom did double-takes and greeted them. It’s hard, however, not to pick out LaHaye as "somebody," even if it takes you a minute to place him exactly. That distinctive, imp-like face, but without the animation of a real imp, oddly dark hair. "Which one is that?" your brain wonders, until it finally settles. <\/p>\n

Ricky Scaggs was to be there, but we didn’t stick around. Jars of Clay was signing something, but again, I was chasing and the line was long. Did get photos of:<\/p>\n

Lisa Whelchel of "<\/em>Facts of Life" fame, who has authored a devotional. Hardly anyone in her line.Sort of surprising.<\/p>\n

Michael Landon, Jr., signing something – a movie he’s produced, I suppose – at the FoxFaith booth (you know, Fox’s new division of "Christian" films.)<\/p>\n

This is my 3rd CBA, and at this point, unlike past shows, it seems as if there aren’t any big ministry types showing up on the floor getting huge crowds. Joel Osteen and Max Lucado, both with books coming out in the fall which have announced million+ first print runs,  have no need to make a trip like this. Joyce Meyer has come in the past, accompanied by an intimidating posse, but no longer. In the Left Behind <\/em>heyday, the energy was buzzing around Jenkins and LaHaye, but that’s much quieter now.<\/p>\n

No the most constant presence on the floor the past two days, a woman who has at least 3 books being pushed for upcoming seasons, who was signing at a different booth, with huge lines winding their way around the aisles every time I turned around, was Christian fiction author Karen Kingsbury.
