Today I saw (but didn&#8217;t photograph)Jerry Jenkins (co-author of the <em>Left Behind<\/em> series.) being interviewed with his son, with whom he now writes. Saw Tim and Beverly LaHaye, not at a booth or signing, but sort of appearing out of nowhere (hmmmm) and slowly drifting around, carefully (they&#8217;re getting old) picking their way around the crowds, only some of whom did double-takes and greeted them. It&#8217;s hard, however, not to pick out LaHaye as &quot;somebody,&quot; even if it takes you a minute to place him exactly. That distinctive, imp-like face, but without the animation of a real imp, oddly dark hair. &quot;Which one is that?&quot; your brain wonders, until it finally settles. <\/p>\n<p>Ricky Scaggs was to be there, but we didn&#8217;t stick around. Jars of Clay was signing something, but again, I was chasing and the line was long. Hardly anyone in her line.Sort of surprising.<\/p>\n<p>As opposed to:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Photo Sharing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/amywelborn\/773956882\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"180\" alt=\"CBA sighting\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1104\/773956882_9806765a73_m.jpg\" width=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Michael Landon, Jr., signing something &#8211; a movie he&#8217;s produced, I suppose &#8211; at the FoxFaith booth (you know, Fox&#8217;s new division of &quot;Christian&quot; films.)<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Photo Sharing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/amywelborn\/773956356\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"180\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1233\/773956356_25f340c2bf_m.jpg\" width=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Very, very long line for him, as well as, right across, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pointofgrace.net\/\">Point of Grace (not the girl on the far left)<\/a>. Sorry for the horrid photo. Joel Osteen and Max Lucado, both with books coming out in the fall which have announced million+ first print runs,&nbsp; have no need to make a trip like this. Joyce Meyer has come in the past, accompanied by an intimidating posse, but no longer. In the <em>Left Behind <\/em>heyday, the energy was buzzing around Jenkins and LaHaye, but that&#8217;s much quieter now.<\/p>\n<p>No the most constant presence on the floor the past two days, a woman who has at least 3 books being pushed for upcoming seasons, who was signing at a different booth, with huge lines winding their way around the aisles every time I turned around, was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.karenkingsbury.com\/\">Christian fiction author Karen Kingsbury.
