There&#8217;s the trip there:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amywelborn.typepad.com\/photos\/spring_and_summer_2006\/together.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/amywelborn.typepad.com\/photos\/spring_and_summer_2006\/together.jpg\" width=\"440\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>(Obviously no double strollers or fancy jogging strollers here. And yes, both are ambulatory. But we wanted a 2 1\/2 hour trip &#8211; not 4 hours.)<\/p>\n<p>And then, after an hour or so in the park, there was the extra hour or so spent walking home &#8211; the long way around the golf course of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fortwayneparks.org\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=90&amp;Itemid=92\">Foster Park.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There. They should sleep well tonight. And perhaps I will, too.<\/p>\n<p>I never tire of seeing the differences between children. Up to this year, Joseph has been morbidly shy around other children. He still has his moments, but going to school got him over it, for the most part. I mean &#8211; this time last year, if there was even one other child on a piece of playground equipment&#8230;he wouldn&#8217;t want to go on.<\/p>\n<p>Michael the Baby, on the other hand&#8230;as we walked into the park, a group of children raced in front of us and then just kept racing and racing around the picnic pavilion and into the play area &#8211; Michael immediately broke away from me and joined them, getting right in the middle.
