You get the feeling that this is a game of chicken and we, the Catholic faithful, are standing in the middle of the street.<\/p>\n

Everyone knows how the votes went.  What we don\u2019t know is precisely what the votes were about.  <\/p>\n

They were about the new draft translation, right?  Well\u2026 yes and no.  First there was a vote on adapations to the draft.  Then there was a vote on the draft with the adaptations.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t know what the adaptations were.  Therefore, we don\u2019t know which<\/em> draft they approved.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The bishops yesterday also rejected a proposed translation to have priests invoke "the dew of your Spirit" in a prayer of consecration. That line now calls for "the outpouring of the Holy Spirit." <\/p>\n
