So much of the Bible and our Catholic spiritual tradition are rooted in shamanism, but we have forgotten this simple, human spirituality.

So, enrich your life — not just your spiritual life but your whole life by exploring a different reality. It is the reality that Christ called the Kingdom of God, and you can visit it on Tuesdays, the 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th of June from 7-8:30pm in the South Room of the Ministry Center.

Father Michael will teach the basics of shamanic spirituality: spiritual cosmology, sonic driving, journeying, working with spirit guides and teachers and healing — all from such a good, Catholic perspective that the Pope himself would be honored to lay on the floor next to you to retrieve your lost power animal!

Um…I’m pretty speechless right now ’cause that’s pretty idiotic.

Too bad this family didn’t hook up with this priest. They needn’t have bothered with all that conversion business or anything:

As she and Kou began their family, Yia said she continued to struggle with Shamanism. She did not believe it offered the spiritual welfare she wanted for herself or her children, and it wasn’t appropriate to question its unusual practices.

“Before I was in darkness all the time looking for answers,” said Yia. “I didn’t find answers. It seemed like my soul was so depressed, trying to please everybody. It make me feel so down.”

Yia found that in Christianity, the Bible provided answers for her questions, and members of the religion were willing to explain their beliefs.

“With the faith of Christ they put down (the teachings) in a book that you can really rely on” to understand, she said. “When you don’t have the answer you can go there and read. In Shamanism, you always have to go to the Shaman and chase the spirit away.

“Each time after I read (the Bible), I feel more happy and more relaxed and I will use that as light pointing me the way to becoming a better person and trust in (God) more.”

Like her mother, Kou’s father was a Shaman, one who has a special relationship or control over the spirits. It wasn’t until 2003, when Kou’s father passed away, that Yia took the first step toward initiation into the Catholic faith.

As we have said here before about Gnosticism – Christianity has fought these battles before – and for a reason.
