Thich Nhat Hanh<\/i> has compiled several verses which give a sense of its workings &#8230; here are part:<\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd>\n<div align=\"center\"><i>Mind is a field<\/i><\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div align=\"center\"><i>In which every kind of seed is sown.<\/i><\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div align=\"center\"><i>This mind-field can also be called<\/i><\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div align=\"center\"><i>&#8220;All the seeds&#8221;.<br \/><a href=\"editor-content.html?cs=utf-8\" name=\"2\"><font size=\"5\"><b><em><\/em><\/b><\/font><\/a><\/i><\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>\n<div align=\"center\"><i><br \/><\/i><\/div>\n<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<div align=\"center\"><i>In us are infinite varieties of seeds &#8211;<\/i><\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div align=\"center\"><i>Seeds of samsara, nirvana, delusion, and enlightenment, <\/i><\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div align=\"center\"><i>Seeds of suffering and happiness, <\/i><\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div align=\"center\"><i>Seeds of perceptions, names, and words.<br \/><a href=\"editor-content.html?cs=utf-8\" name=\"3\"><font size=\"5\"><b><em><\/em><\/b><\/font><\/a><\/i><\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>\n<div align=\"center\"><i><br \/><\/i><\/div>\n<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<div align=\"center\"><i>&#8230; Are all stored in our consciousness.<\/i><\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div align=\"center\"><i>That is why it is called &#8220;store&#8221;.&nbsp;<\/i><\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dd><\/dd>\n<dd>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<dl>\n<dd><i>Some seeds are innate,<\/i><\/dd>\n<dd><i>Handed down by our ancestors.<\/i><\/dd>\n<dd><i>Some were sown while we were still in the womb,<\/i><\/dd>\n<dd><i>Others were sown when we were children. <br \/><\/i><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p><i><br \/><\/i><\/p>\n<dl>\n<dd><i>The quality of our life<\/i><\/dd>\n<dd><i>Depends on the quality<\/i><\/dd>\n<dd><i>Of the seeds<\/i><\/dd>\n<dd><i>That lie deep in our consciousness.<\/i><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<div align=\"right\">Although a rather complicated idea, the basic premise is really very simple. Whether we experience the world with happiness, sadness, anger, peacefulness, fear, courage, greed, generosity &#8230; all depends on the particular seeds which come to fruition.<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div align=\"right\">But the good news is that we do have the power to nurture, and like a gardener, water and cultivate the wholesome seeds within us.
