Today, I offer a film review of ‘Into Great Silence<\/span>‘ (2006):<\/span><\/p>\n

Synopsis: Nestled deep in the French Alps, the Grande Chartreuse is considered one of the world\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s most ascetic monasteries. In 1984, German filmmaker Philip Gr\u00c3\u00b6ning wrote to the Carthusian order for permission to make a documentary about them. They said they would get back to him. Sixteen years later, they were ready. Gr\u00c3\u00b6ning, sans crew or artificial lighting, lived in the monks\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 quarters for six months\u00e2\u20ac\u201dfilming their daily prayers, tasks, rituals and rare outdoor excursions.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

(by the way, if someone asks … my eyes are always 1\/3 open during the sitting. The camera angle, and my lovely long eye lashes, may make it appear that my eyes are closed)<\/span><\/div>\n
