These poinsettias are known as winter roses and I think it can be such a gift to still have flowers around in seasons that don&#8217;t seem to be hospitable to them, at least if you live in the heart of the Midwest!!<\/p>\n<p>A story I read about the origin of the poinsettias says a boy who didn&#8217;t have the means for a large gift gathered weeds to bring to the church altar and they changed into these beautiful red and green flowers. God can make even the simplest of things grand.
