Since the article was posted on Tuesday evening, there have been 133 comments that range from supportive of our decisions, opposed to them, and everything in between. If you&#8217;re interested in these topics, I recommend scanning the comments to see a wide perspective in point of view on issues related to disability, community, education, ethics, family, and medicine.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I have been asked to give an interview on &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetakeaway.org\/\">The Takeaway<\/a>,&#8221; a Public Radio International show, on Monday morning. The interview will air at 6:49 a.m., and I will post a link to it as soon as it becomes available. If you have access, please tune in!<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>As to my own response to the comments over at Motherlode, I&#8217;m planning a series of posts that will address some of the questions raised for me. Do they terminate for different reasons with a prenatal diagnosis of DS?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-top: 0px;margin-right: 0px;margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;margin-left: 0px\"><span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-top: 0px;margin-right: 0px;margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;margin-left: 0px\"><span>In using language of &#8220;perfection&#8221; and &#8220;imperfection,&#8221; what do we mean? Similarly, language of defective, disabled, burdens&#8230; Is this language another way to divide &#8220;us&#8221; and &#8220;them&#8221;? What constitutes a perfect baby? Does that baby grow up into a perfect adult?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-top: 0px;margin-right: 0px;margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;margin-left: 0px\"><span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-top: 0px;margin-right: 0px;margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;margin-left: 0px\"><span><\/span><span>Are individuals with Down syndrome valuable human beings? We live in a culture that has only included individuals with Down syndrome for a few decades.
