Ashley Flynn\u2019s family says they are remembering the slain Ohio mother of two for her deep Christian faith and devotion to her daughters after a jury found her husband, former worship leader and \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d contestant Caleb Flynn, guilty<\/a> of her murder.<\/p>\n

Following Tuesday\u2019s verdict, Ashley\u2019s family released a statement<\/a> saying the decision brought \u201cjustice and accountability,\u201d but could never undo what was taken from them.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo verdict can bring Ashley back, give the girls back their mother or erase the pain our family has endured,\u201d the family said. \u201cThe cruelty of what happened to Ashley and the things we\u2019ve been forced to hear and relive have at times felt unbearable.\u201d<\/p>\n

But her loved ones said they refuse to allow the circumstances of Ashley\u2019s death to overshadow the way she lived.<\/p>\n

\u201cAshley\u2019s life will not be defined by the way it ended,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cShe\u2019ll be remembered for the way she lived.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her family described Ashley as a woman who \u201cloved Jesus with her whole heart,\u201d saying Christianity was not merely something she talked about.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was how she lived,\u201d they said. \u201cShe loved people well, found joy beyond her circumstances, prayed boldly for her family and wanted her life to point people to Jesus.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ashley\u2019s role as a mother was especially important to her, according to the family.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of all, she loved being a mom,\u201d they said. \u201cShe prayed over her girls, taught them to love God and showed them what it looked like to live with faith, kindness, joy and grace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jurors deliberated for about two hours before finding Caleb guilty in Ashley\u2019s February killing at the couple\u2019s Ohio home. During the trial, jurors heard testimony from law enforcement, Ashley\u2019s relatives and Caleb\u2019s former mistress. Prosecutors also presented messages they said showed Caleb discussing a desire to kill his wife and \u201cnot go to Hell for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Caleb maintained his innocence during the case, and his family continues to stand behind him. His mother, Kim Flynn, told<\/a> WDTN-TV following the verdict that her son \u201cdidn\u2019t do it\u201d and called the prosecution\u2019s evidence \u201ccircumstantial junk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Defense attorney Patrick Mulligan has said he plans to appeal<\/a> the verdict. Caleb is scheduled to be sentenced on Monday and could face 20 years to life in prison or life without parole.<\/p>\n

For Ashley\u2019s family, the verdict is not where they want her story to end, even as the case reaches sentencing and appeal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe refuse to let the evil that ended Ashley\u2019s life have the final word in her story,\u201d they said. \u201cOur faith does not erase our grief, but it carries us through it. We know Ashley is home with the Lord she loved and served.\u201d<\/p>\n
