This compassionate and articulate sister Queen calls herself Queen Mary Immaculata.<\/p>\n<p><\/em><\/p>\n<p>A single day in April isn\u2019t enough<br \/>\nto honor our Mother, save the planet<br \/>\nthat is her body, restore her ocean womb,<br \/>\nrevitalize the atrophied arms and legs<br \/>\nof her continents, remove the smog<br \/>\nfrom her pristine lungs, replenish all that\u2019s<br \/>\ndepleted by the lust for profit<br \/>\nover prosperity. Human hearts so greedy<br \/>\nfor commerce they call deforestation progress,<br \/>\nthink cloning is a medical advancement,<br \/>\nsee artificial life as the wave of the future,<br \/>\nas if civilization can only advance<br \/>\nby killing or dismemberment,<br \/>\nby acquisition or annihilation.<\/p>\n<p>How to survive a world of paper or plastic,<br \/>\nhybrid or gas-guzzler,<br \/>\ngenetically altered seeds,<br \/>\ncloned cows, chemical poisons in the water,<br \/>\nrun-off from the mouths of politicians<br \/>\nwho think global warming is good for business.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s to be gained when<br \/>\nglobalization soils our souls,<br \/>\nbreeds a false sense of interconnection,<br \/>\nfeigns compassion predicated on<br \/>\ncorporate exploitation, skimming money<br \/>\noff the backs of underpaid workers,<br \/>\ntrafficking in human life, in weapons<br \/>\nof destruction, raping the land of its bounty,<br \/>\nthe rivers of their life-sustaining powers,<br \/>\ndenying whole nations their dignity and worth.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s no way to treat our Mother,<br \/>\nno way to save our planet,<br \/>\nno way to mend our broken spirits,<br \/>\nno way to change the world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>* ***<br \/>\nDonna Henes is the author of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thequeenofmyself.com\"><em>The Queen of My Self: Stepping into Sovereignty in Midlife<\/em>.<\/a> She offers counseling and upbeat, practical and ceremonial guidance for individual women and groups who want to enjoy the fruits of an enriching, influential, purposeful, passionate, and powerful maturity. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donnahenes.net\/queen\/consult.shtml\">Consult the MIDLIFE MIDWIFE\u2122<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Queen welcomes questions concerning all issues of interest to women in their mature years.
