What Maestro Dylan Thomas called \u201cthe close & holy dark?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The midnight hour & the hours before & after?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Where can we go to see a starry sky,<\/strong><\/p>\n

the pearls of the Milky Way,<\/strong><\/p>\n

the glittering constellations<\/strong><\/p>\n

set off by darkest night?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our whole civilization conspires<\/strong><\/p>\n

to show us everything in the glaring light\u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

the street lights, the store signs,<\/strong><\/p>\n

the porch lights, the driveways, the highways,<\/strong><\/p>\n

the headlights.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Where has the mystery of night gone?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I adopted a black mother cat once,<\/strong><\/p>\n

& named her Mystery a.k.a. Ms. Tree.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wisely, she fled from civilization.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If I knew how, I would too,<\/strong><\/p>\n

I would too.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
