An Antic Cronish Goddess<\/strong>

“An\u2019 you jus\u2019 start thinkin\u2019 of them lines,” She says, “as your Auntie Gravity\u2019s rainbows, an\u2019 remember all the colors of what you done in your life. An\u2019 where\u2019s that ol\u2019 somewhere over the rainbow? In a land full of midgets, that\u2019s where, mental midgets that don\u2019t know what you know. Buncha mental midgets don\u2019t know who you are. Believe you Me, you don\u2019t even wanna go there.<\/p>\n

“An\u2019 don\u2019t you dare say hot flashes, either,” Auntie Gravity says. “Those\u2019r power surges! As the cat told the cockroach, toujours gai, toujours gai, there\u2019s a dance in the old dame yet. Don\u2019t you forget that. So maybe you don\u2019t dance so fast anymore. So what? Now your dance got the power. Maybe your monthly blood\u2019s done dried up, but, Gal, you still got the juice. Got it mor\u2019n ever before, got it straighter, got it deeper, got it stronger, got it higher.<\/p>\n

“Hey, Gal,” She says, “you hungry? None a them diets for me! Ol\u2019 gals need their nourishment, preferably chocolate nourishment. You know there\u2019s more of gravy than the grave about Me, don\u2019t you? So let\u2019s just stir the pot an\u2019 see what we stir up in the world. Double bubbles, maybe, an\u2019 toil an\u2019 trouble an\u2019 mischief an\u2019 reality. Seriosity an\u2019 humorocity\u2014heck, let\u2019s have four, five, or a dozen humors. So what\u2019s cookin\u2019, hmmm? Here, have a bite while we\u2019re waitin\u2019 to see what\u2019s got stirred up this time.<\/p>\n

“Gal,” She says after awhile, “This here visit\u2019s \u2018bout over now. I got things to do an\u2019 places to go yet. So lemme tell you one last thing: gravity\u2019s the universal force that pulls everyone together. Remember that. An\u2019 you take good care of yourself, you hear?”<\/p>\n

And She is gone.<\/p>\n

But She\u2019ll be back.<\/p>\n
