It is a time of being home and laying low. A time of making soup and catching up on my ironing. A time of long, indulgent hot baths and slow starting mornings in bed with a cup of tea and a good book.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>During February I will be sharing articles about Domestic Queens, Introverted Queens, Privacy Seeking Queens, Self-Loving Queens, and Literary Queens. And as always, I ask you to please share your stories on these themes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Garlic Lady in February<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>By <a href=\"httpwww.dragonwagon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Crescent Dragonwagon<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I am the garlic lady, six<\/p>\n<p>Pressed cloves on my spaghetti, and<\/p>\n<p>Those bulbs as raw as myself on<\/p>\n<p>This blustery day<\/p>\n<p>Which I shall spend at home, entertaining myself. I find my jokes<\/p>\n<p>Enormously funny, and I know<\/p>\n<p>About herbs and botannicals, too.<\/p>\n<p>Take the pungent healing tuber<\/p>\n<p>I love to chew: it&#8217;s allium,<\/p>\n<p>An errant member of the lily family<\/p>\n<p>And you&#8217;d sweat it through your pores<\/p>\n<p>If you wore it in your shoe.<\/p>\n<p>For just today I&#8217;ve ten good books<\/p>\n<p>And wood and food and fire. Only<\/p>\n<p>Sleet and gust are welcome guests;<\/p>\n<p>Who&#8217;d dare drive this windy way, to knock<\/p>\n<p>At my steamy kitchen, who would Intrude? I am the red-wine one-woman<\/p>\n<p>Gypsy-coven, and I dance<\/p>\n<p>And dance and dance<\/p>\n<p>My smell is strong and my taste<\/p>\n<p>Is strong and you say<\/p>\n<p>I am wild, yet never begin<\/p>\n<p>To see me dance and dance and dance.<\/p>\n<p>Now if you should see me walking the town<\/p>\n<p>If you dare, watch for my eyes;<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;ll catch you like a dime in the sidewalk.<\/p>\n<p>Put this meeting in your pocket; now add<\/p>\n<p>Your chili fingers.
