{"id":1180,"date":"2010-02-22T18:12:33","date_gmt":"2010-02-22T18:12:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/theirbadmother\/2010\/02\/a-movement-extraordinary.html"},"modified":"2010-02-22T18:12:33","modified_gmt":"2010-02-22T18:12:33","slug":"a-movement-extraordinary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/columnists\/theirbadmother\/2010\/02\/a-movement-extraordinary.html","title":{"rendered":"A Movement, Extraordinary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was in Houston this weekend, having an extraordinary time with a community of extraordinary women and generally feeling extraordinary, and I&#8217;m not sure that I have the words to capture the extraordinariness of it all, in part because I am exhausted (having come home to a very sick little boy who <a href=\"http:\/\/herbadmother.com\/2010\/02\/sometimes-we-need-touch\/\">frightened me very badly<\/a>), but mostly because I am overwhelmed to the point of speechlessness by the extraordinariness that extends far out and beyond the weekend, because it is the extraordinariness of <i>us<\/i>, we mothers, we writers, we artists, we entrepreneurs, we activists, we <i>friends<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>So I&#8217;ll let someone else&#8217;s words and images do it for me. Be prepared to cry.<\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><object width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/E8K9s7_k3TM&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en_US&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1\" \/><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowScriptAccess\" value=\"always\" \/><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/E8K9s7_k3TM&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0xb1b1b1&amp;color2=0xcfcfcf&amp;hl=en_US&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;fs=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><\/object><\/div>\n<p>That work of art was compiled and textually woven and narrated by the incomparable <a href=\"http:\/\/www.katherinecenter.com\/\">Katherine Center<\/a>, in celebration of the Mom 2.0 weekend, which itself is a work of art conceived and developed by the quadruply incomparable <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kirtsy.com\/\">Kirtsy<\/a> ladies (<a href=\"http:\/\/thequeso.com\/\">Laura <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/leapdesign.com\/upsideup\">Laurie<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/designmom.com\/\">Gabrielle<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gwenbell.com\/\">Gwen<\/a>), who created <em>that<\/em> work of art by bringing together and curating the work and art of our extraordinary community.<\/p>\n<p>I am honored to be a part of it.
