\"\"<\/a>I don\u2019t know if I was just not watching the right
\nchannels yesterday but it appears that there was very little news on the
\nairwaves about the results of Amy Winehouse\u2019s toxicology reports on how she
\nmight have died.\u00a0 It appeared weeks ago
\nwhen she died, you couldn\u2019t turn on a channel without hearing about her sudden
\ndeath.\u00a0 If you read todays blogs, there
\nare many blogs sharing the news that there were no illegal drugs in her system,
\nhowever, toxicology tests did show \u201calcohol was present\u201d in her body but it
\nhasn\u2019t yet been determined if it contributed to her death.\u00a0 An inquest is due out in October to determine
\nwhat ultimately caused Amy\u2019s sudden death.<\/p>\n

I find it interesting that the news channels could not
\nget enough information out there about her sudden death last month, but did not
\nseem to find it important enough to share yesterday\u2019s news.\u00a0 I think it is very important that they didn\u2019t
\nfind illegal drugs in her body being that she had a history of drug
\naddiction.\u00a0 \u00a0Now, of course, what about prescription drugs?
\nDid she mix prescription drugs with alcohol?
\nThere were also reports in the past she struggled with bulimia, an
\neating disorder, so did her frail body combined with alcohol have something to
\ndo with her death?\u00a0 We won\u2019t know, and
\nthese are all speculations, but what we do know is the news had a field day
\ntalking about the death but somehow didn\u2019t find it as news worthy to share yesterday\u2019s
\nfindings.<\/p>\n

As someone who works in addiction, I believe the report
\nwas newsworthy because it gives the public a perfect opportunity to be educated
\nthat anything goes when it comes to the dangers of alcohol regardless of
\nwhether or not there were illegal drugs in her system.\u00a0 Did she mix prescription drugs with
\nalcohol?\u00a0 Did she withdraw from alcohol
\nsuddenly?\u00a0 Did she drink too much alcohol
\ncausing alcohol poisoning? or Did she go on the new \u201calcohol diet\u201d that so many
\nyoung people are participating in these days who have eating disorders? \u00a0\u00a0Again we don\u2019t know if any of these things
\nare the cause of her death but they certainly are possibilities.\u00a0 Anytime, a celebrity dies suddenly of a
\npossible drug related death, the news is on it.
\nWhy doesn\u2019t the news spend more time educating the public of all the
\ndangers of alcohol and drug use and the different scenarios that are possible
\nthat can lead to death?\u00a0 Illegal drugs in
\nAmy Winehouse\u2019s body were not found, but alcohol was, and anytime alcohol plays
\nthe part of a young person\u2019s demise, we need to talk about it<\/p>\n
