\"\"<\/a>Does Media Attention Help Addiction Stigma?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Drew\u2019s new show premiered last night to an eager audience. Demonstrating a no-holds- barred attitude in regards to addiction, Dr. Drew once again went above and beyond. Dr. Drew brings other experts to sit on a panel and discusses tough topics that surround human behavior. His show is not limited to simply dealing with addiction but addresses the underlying question of why people do the things they do. The first show dealt with Charlie Sheen, a young lady who put the spotlight on bullying and Sammy Hagar.<\/p>\n

The well roundedness of Dr. Drew\u2019s perspective on hard-hitting issues empowers the audience to make their own decisions. While discussing Charlie Sheen, the point was made that celebrity addicts give addiction the appearance of being \u201centertaining\u201d. The danger this represents to those that idolize and revel in the stories of latest celebrities addicts is celebrities are showing how they are getting tons of attention despite their addict behavior.<\/p>\n

Dr. Drew shares the story of Alye, a young girl that made a moving YouTube video dealing with bullying. This powerful story shed light on a horrific situation that occurs to many adolescents. This is a great representation of how situations that happen to adolescents can have possible negative consequences. It is unfortunate that this young lady, who did an amazing job of putting the issue of bullying in the public eye, is now dealing with more bullying after standing up for herself. What an incredible story of a courageous young lady. He follows this by interviewing Sammy Hagar on sex, drinking and aliens.<\/p>\n

Sammy Hagar shares his story of having an alcoholic father and how being in Van Halen, when certain bandmates suffered from addiction affected him. His attitude of gratitude towards many blessings in his life was refreshing. It is always reassuring to see an example of a human being that has achieved success yet remains truly humble for all that they possess.<\/p>\n

Dr. Drew\u2019s new show is a great representation of how media attention can be used to be educational, informative and give a true perspective on human behavior. I truly believe that Dr. Drew is giving a voice to those that cannot or will not show the severity of human behavior. By being honest, real and knowledgeable, this show offers great information that can touch a large audience. Amazing job on the part of Dr. Drew and those he invites to his panel. I look forward to watching future episodes.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> I caught some bits and pieces of the second episode and cannot wait to watch it in its entirety.<\/p>\n
