 Celebrities tend to spend a large amount of time dealing
\nwith press, both positive and negative. The general population loves to see
\nwhat their favorite celeb’s are wearing and what antics they are up to. The
\nGrammy’s last night was no exception. From Lady Gaga showing up in an egg to
\nChristina Aguilera having a less than graceful moment, the headlines were full
\nof news regarding the awards show. Among these headlines were inquiries about
\nthe pendent worn by Eminem during his performance. Some speculated it was a
\nsymbol linking the rapper to the Illuminati, but for those in the loop, the
\nsymbol had a much deeper meaning.<\/p>\n

 The pendent worn by Eminem at the Grammy’s was a
\ndiamond-encrusted circle with a triangle in the center. For those that may not
\nbe aware, this is a universal symbol for Alcoholics Anonymous. The history of
\nthe symbol goes back decades and the three sides of the triangle have
\nsignificant meanings for those in recovery. Each side of the triangle
\nrepresents three major components of a member of the fellowship of Alcoholics
\nAnonymous: unity, service and recovery. The number three is also important
\nbecause it relates to the three aspects of the disease of addiction: physical,
\nmental and spiritual. The circle surrounding the triangle represents wholeness
\nand serenity, things that an addict in recovery strives for. Having this symbol
\nworn by such a public figure shows his support of recovery and his openness
\ntowards placing his recovery in the public eye. <\/p>\n

 All too often we read about celebrities that are suffering
\nwith the disease
\nof addiction<\/a>. We read about their antics, the consequences of their actions
\nand we look at the pictures of them when they are at their worst. It was
\nrefreshing and empowering to see Eminem show the other side of the disease of
\naddiction. He is showing that there is hope and celebration in recovery from
\ndrugs and alcohol. He did this by wearing a piece of jewelry that shows his
\ncommitment to his personal recovery. There are many ways that you can display
\nyour pride for your personal recovery, here are some examples of
\njewelry<\/a> that symbolize your personal journey through recovery. <\/p>\n
