This gentleman just can’t seem to get a break from the
\npress, but the question remains, should he? Charlie Sheen has been in the press
\nfor decades with his drug and alcohol use. His fondness for women who are in the
\noldest profession has also made the headlines. Most recently, Charlie has
\nallegedly spent $26,000 for companionship while allegedly high on drugs. The
\nlatest news, rushed to the hospital. His behavior is a true portrait of the
\ndisease of addiction.<\/p>\n

The disease of addiction can spin out of control before we
\nknow it and when one is in the public eye for over 20 years, coming from a
\nfamous family, having one’s disease displayed in the headlines can make
\nrecovery difficult. Individuals who have chosen acting, as a profession must
\nrealize that should success be found, they may sacrifice anonymity. If they use
\nwhile on the job, it will be extremely difficult for them to return to work
\nwithout facing constant triggers. <\/p>\n

When faced with triggers, the recovering addict must change
\ntheir mindset. The disease of addiction begins in the mind, it is rooted in
\nattempting to escape from a variety of fears that the addict may have. When an
\naddict in recovery recognizes the trigger, acknowledges the trigger and changes
\nthe energy from negative to positive they can face their fear head on and
\nrealize that this feeling will pass. Should the addict give in to their fear
\nthey run a high risk of relapse. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
People in recovery that have the profession of being in the
\nspotlights are under constant scrutiny and this can only increase their chances
\nof relapse. Every individual, that is fighting the battle of addiction, needs
\nto stay grounded, developing a solid foundation that is made of truth, honesty
\nand the desire to become healthy. Regardless if these addicts are in the
\nspotlight, such as Charlie Sheen, or have opted to have a profession that isn’t
\nin the limelight, having a secure foundation is absolutely necessary to have a
\nsolid recovery. <\/p>\n
