I’m worried about Jeremy London. In the group sessions and
\nthe one-on-one meetings he’s had with Dr. Drew so far on Celebrity Rehab,<\/i> he
\nseems to be totally focused on his ex wife: “She drove me to drugs, she ruined
\nmy career, she ruined my life, she put our child at risk.” In the one-on-one
\nsessions I’ve had with him (which you can see here: <\/span> <\/span>http:\/\/www.vh1.com\/video\/misc\/610692\/jeremy-london-one-on-one-part-1.jhtml#id=1655336)<\/span>, he’s expressed the same ideas.
\nHe is not taking responsibility for his addiction, or for any of the problems
\nin his life. <\/span><\/p>\n

            <\/span>This worries me because he can’t go
\nforward in his recovery until he sees his own part in the progression of his
\ndisease. Right now, he sees himself as a victim. <\/span>The victim blames others for all his problems, rather
\nthan looking inside himself and taking responsibility for his behavior. V<\/span>ictims get things done to them;
\ntheir circumstances are out of their control. <\/span><\/p>\n

            <\/span><\/span>When you are a victim, you can avoid taking
\nresponsibility for changing your life. It allows you to not move forward, not
\nalign with your values, not follow your passions, not even discover what those
\npassions are. It allows you to stay in your disease and not even take the first
\nbaby steps toward finding your purpose. <\/span><\/p>\n

            <\/span>When you take responsibility for
\nwhat has happened to you, you are no longer a victim, you are a participant in
\nyour own life–including your own problems. But that also means you can
\nparticipate in your own solutions; you can make them happen. Better
\noutcomes–and a better life–are within your control. <\/span><\/p>\n

            <\/span>The Law of Sobriety says that
\nnegative thinking can only bring more negative thinking. View yourself as a
\nperpetual victim and you will be one. Take responsibility for your life and
\nbelieve you can change the outcomes, and you will be able to. <\/span><\/p>\n

            My work with Jeremy is only the beginning, next he must come to terms with his part and through working the 12 steps and The Law of Sobriety<\/a>, recovery from being a victim and his disease is possible.<\/p>\n
