The cause stems from low<br \/>\nself-esteem combined with hyped up images in the media that are impossible to<br \/>\nachieve. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Plastic surgery has become more socially acceptable due to<br \/>\nthe influence of Hollywood. Individuals are having more surgeries starting at a<br \/>\nyounger age. It is not uncommon to find a group of 16 year olds that have<br \/>\neither already had their first augmentation or are planning on having something<br \/>\n&#8220;fixed&#8221;. There is even a children&#8217;s book that you can read to your kids about<br \/>\nhow surgery is going to make mommy beautiful.<span>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<\/span>Some of the (in)famous faces of plastic surgery include:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0in\" type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Heidi<br \/>\nMontag<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Joan<br \/>\nRivers<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Jocelyn<br \/>\nWildenstein<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Michael<br \/>\nJackson<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Donatella<br \/>\nVersace<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Heidi Montag admits that she was &#8220;&#8230;an ugly duckling<br \/>\nbefore.&#8221; her multitude of plastic surgery procedures.<span>&nbsp; <\/span>She has admitted to having breast<br \/>\naugmentation, brow lift, a nose job and liposuction on various parts of her<br \/>\nbody among &#8220;other things&#8221;. Addiction comes with a false sense of control. The<br \/>\nstate of denial that occurs in the mind of an addict &#8220;tricks&#8221; them into<br \/>\nthinking that they have control over their reality, when in truth they are on a<br \/>\ndownward and potentially extremely dangerous path. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Simply put, addiction to plastic surgery is when you are<br \/>\naddicted to having actual cosmetic procedures. The addiction starts to take<br \/>\nover your life, obsession sets in and you spend more than you can afford on<br \/>\naugmenting your body to become &#8220;perfect&#8221;.<span>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<\/span>Once one problem area is dealt with, the addict will find more and more<br \/>\nareas of their body that are imperfect and that require cosmetic surgery. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Plastic surgery addiction can be treated in a fashion<br \/>\nsimilar to treating drug and alcohol addiction. The best prevention method is<br \/>\nto not have that first procedure done. Examine carefully the reasons behind the<br \/>\nneed for the augmentation, is it a want or a necessity.
