Swindoll\r\n\r\nRead Job 42:10--17\r\n\r\nI\u2018d like to offer several tips on how to stay young. \r\n\r\nNumber one: Your mind isn't old, keep developing it. Watch less television and read more. \r\nSpend time with people who talk about events and ideas rather than sitting around a shop \r\ntalking about people and how sorry this young generation has become. \r\nNobody wants to be around a crotchety old person who sees only the clouds \r\nand talks only about bad weather. \r\n\r\nNumber two: Your humor isn't over, keep enjoying it.\r\nI love being around older people who still see the sunny side of life.\r\nThey see funny things happening. They can tell a great story. \r\nThey enjoy a loud belly laugh. \r\nYou look fabulous when you laugh. And it takes years off your face. \r\n\r\nNumber three: Your strength isn't gone, keep using it.\r\nDon't let yourself get out of shape. \r\nStay active. Eat right. Watch your weight. \r\nGuard against becoming isolated and immobile.\r\nAnd while I'm at it, quit addressing every ache and pain. \r\nQuit talking about how weak you're getting and how others\r\nwill have to do this or that for you. \r\nJump in there. You keep doing it. \r\n\r\nHere's a fourth: Your opportunities haven't vanished, keep pursuing them.\r\nThere are people all around you who could use an encouraging word,\r\nan affirming note, a phone call that says, \"I love you and believe in you, \r\nand I'm praying for you.\"\r\nSo go there. Opportunities to help others have not vanished. \r\n\r\nThe fifth is obvious: Your God is not dead, keep serving and seeking Him.\r\nThe living God is ageless. The Lord Jesus Christ is timeless and ever relevant. \r\nContinue to enjoy some time alone with your Lord. It's so important! \r\n\r\nYou have lived long enough to know that there is no one\r\nmore trustworthy than the Lord Himself.\r\n\r\nI wish for you a full life, like Job's,\r\nmarked not by living happily ever after (an impossibility),\r\nbut by being truly satisfied, fulfilled, challenged, useful,\r\ngodly, balanced, and joyful. \r\n\r\nYes, for sure, joyful! And don't forget---reasonably sweet.<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
This is a reprint of a post by Charles Swindoll. Staying Young by Charles R.
