Modern Family\u2019s <\/em>Ty Burrell is joining a growing list of celebrities who have decided to trade in Hollywood for a simpler lifestyle. Burrell left LA behind in 2020 with his wife and two teenage daughters, Frances and Greta for Salt Lake City, calling the move \u201cspectacular.\u201d \u201cWe moved here right after [Modern Family<\/em>] ended, and I don\u2019t have any regrets. It\u2019s been lovely and a great place to raise the kids.\u201d Burell told People<\/em><\/a>. His family has also embraced a more active lifestyle than Burell is used to. \u201cMy parents weren\u2019t really those kinds of people. So at first, when we moved here, it almost felt like cosplay, like we were pretending to be people who were outdoorsy, and now we really truly love it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Burrell and his wife, Holly Burrell, have been married for 25 years. Speaking with People<\/em>, Burrell shared how they make their relationship work. \u201cThis is probably connected to the really old axiom of ‘Don’t go to bed angry,’ but we force ourselves to talk about stuff. Both of us make sure that if something’s wrong, by the end of the night, we have at least had some discussion about it,\u201d he said. \u201cNeither one of us are silent treatment people, and I think that’s a real benefit, because I think that can be really hard on a relationship, when you don’t talk about things.”<\/p>\n

Burrell has kept fairly quiet since Modern Family<\/em> ended, where he played the character of Phil Dunphy for 11 seasons. Burrell is currently doing voice work for the podcast series \u201cThe Good Life,\u201d which is loosely based on his childhood. Of course, he hasn\u2019t completely written off performing onscreen again. \u201cI\u2019m starting to get the itch again to perform,\u201d he said in an interview. \u201cI\u2019ve mostly done voiceover work and things like this podcast. And if it accidentally works, I\u2019d love to do a second season. It was such a fun process and has so many great people in it,\u201d Burrell added. \u201cI hope people check it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Burrell isn\u2019t the only Modern Family <\/em>alum to leave Hollywood behind. Ariel Winter, who played Alex Dunphy on the show, also left behind Hollywood for a quieter lifestyle after spending her tender teenage years under intense scrutiny. \u201cIt was just everywhere,” she told\u00a0People magazine<\/a>. “It was every headline I read about myself, like, grown people writing articles about me saying how I looked terrible or pregnant or like a fat s—. I mean, I was 14. It totally damaged my self-esteem.”<\/p>\n
