The two-time Grammy winner touched on his relationship in a candid interview this week with\u00a0Apple Music\u2019s Ebro Darden, noting that married life had been \u201ca journey\u201d thus far.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember when I first got married, I hit a little bit of an emotional breakdown because I thought marriage was going to fix all my problems, and it didn\u2019t,\u201d Justin said. \u201cIt just kind of was a reflection of like, man, you\u2019re a bit of a hypocrite, man.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou want your wife to do something that you\u2019re not doing,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt\u2019s hard sometimes to look in the mirror and really have to realize, man, maybe you\u2019re not the person that you necessarily thought that you were. That\u2019s just a result of trauma and life circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Biebers\u00a0were married\u00a0at a New York courthouse in September 2018. The couple held a more formal, traditional affair\u00a0in South Carolina\u00a0attended by friends and family members about a year later.<\/p>\n

Still, both have faced a fair share of very public challenges. In his 2020 documentary \u201cJustin Bieber: Next Chapter,\u201d<\/a> the pop superstar spoke at length about his mental health, noting he has experienced suicidal thoughts in the past.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Hailey\u00a0was hospitalized\u00a0and treated for a transient ischemic attack, which can have symptoms similar to a stroke. She also reportedly\u00a0underwent surgery\u00a0for a patent foramen ovale, a prenatal hole between heart chambers that failed to close after birth.<\/p>\n

The model recounted the events leading up to her hospitalization in a YouTube clip called \u201cTelling My Story.\u201d She said she and her husband\u00a0Justin Bieber\u00a0were out having breakfast when she \u201csuddenly I felt this weird sensation that kind of like traveled down my arm from my shoulder all the way down to my fingertips.\u201d Through it all, Justin says he\u2019s been able to rely on his Christian faith.<\/p>\n

\u201cLife smacks you in the face, and it can be hard to get back up,\u201d he explained. \u201cBut when you can have a perspective that God is not an angry dude, he is a loving, considerate, compassionate God who knows what we\u2019re going through and just wants us to be the best versions of ourselves. And so that, for me, in that perspective has really changed everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer also revealed during the interview that he\u2019s \u201calmost done\u201d\u00a0working on a new album\u00a0that will feature a \u201cwicked guitar solo\u201d by John Mayer. \u201cHe\u2019s someone who I\u2019ve looked up to for a long time,\u201d he said. \u201cI was working on this song, and he came in, and he\u2019s like: \u2018Can I go in the booth?\u2019 And I was like: \u2018Yeah, bro, go in.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just like, it was mind-blowing to see him actually operate in his gift like that, being able to like see it first-hand, because like he is on another level,\u201d he added. \u201cIt\u2019s insane.\u201d The Biebers\u2019 story is a testament that God will carry you through whatever your problems are, no matter how big or small.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
