Roberts\u00a0shared the secret behind her successful marriage spanning nearly two decades during an interview on\u00a0<em>The Late Show with Stephen Colbert<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This summer, the beloved actress is gearing up to celebrate her 20th wedding anniversary with her husband, Danny Moder. When late-night host\u00a0Stephen Colbert\u00a0asked her what her secret was to a successful and happy marriage, Roberts was able to respond with one word.<\/p>\n<p>For Roberts, the answer is \u201ckissing.\u201d Colbert, who has been married for 28 years, responded with \u201capologizing.\u201d Frankly, both celebs shared some valuable advice. However, Colbert joked that his guest might be onto something. \u201cWell, I would like to apologize to my wife for not saying kissing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Pretty Woman<\/em>\u00a0star teased him right back. \u201cWell, or maybe you apologize, and then you just start making out,\u201d she recommended. Based on a quick glimpse at Roberts\u2019 Instagram, it\u2019s pretty clear that she takes her advice very seriously. This Valentine\u2019s Day, she shared a photo of herself and her husband smooching. The romantic but straightforward picture had a red heart drawn over it to showcase their bond.<\/p>\n<p>Roberts and Moder met while working on the set of a movie and were married in 2002, according to\u00a0<em>Hello! Magazine<\/em>. The couple shares three children. While Moder is not a fellow actor, he works as a cinematographer and camera operator. Aside from\u00a0<em>The Mexican<\/em>, the film on which he and Roberts met, he\u00a0has also worked on projects such as\u00a0<em>Mr. &amp; Mrs. Smith<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Mona Lisa Smile<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Spider-Man 3<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Dead to Me,\u00a0<\/em>according to his profile on\u00a0IMDb.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZG5cGuZLNUM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Fans will likely recall that\u00a0<em>Mona Lisa Smile<\/em>\u00a0starred Roberts alongside\u00a0Kirsten Dunst,\u00a0Julia Stiles, and\u00a0Maggie Gyllenhaal. How cool would it be to work with your significant other? Roberts has paid tribute to her husband several times on social media. The star shared a sweet pic to commemorate their 19th anniversary in 2021. \u201cJust getting started,\u201d she wrote in the caption.<\/p>\n<p>Roberts and Moder have always kept the children out of the public eye, and the family relocated to northern California during the pandemic, Roberts told\u00a0<em>Extra<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe always felt that we were kind of living outside of LA,\u201d said the actress. \u201cI think the move has been great. I think moving with three teenagers during a pandemic is not for the faint of heart, but we have pulled it off, and everyone seems good and happy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The two older children will be headed off to college in the fall, a development that Roberts said leaves her \u201clightheaded.\u201d \u201cI\u2019m completely excited for them. It\u2019s really thrilling, and I wasn\u2019t lucky enough to have a college experience. And so to see how it\u2019s happening for them is really fascinating,\u201d she told\u00a0<em>Extra.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Roberts appeared on\u00a0<em>The Late Show<\/em>\u00a0to promote\u00a0<em>Gaslit<\/em>, in which she plays Watergate whistleblower and southern glamour queen Martha Mitchell, alongside Sean Penn\u2019s Attorney General John Mitchell. The series premieres on April 24th.
