Gwen Stefani recently opened up about the beginning stages of her relationship with country singer Blake Shelton. During an interview with People<\/em>, she shared how their relationship blossomed despite her initial reservations.<\/p>\n

“We had just met, and it was chaos. Both of our lives were in complete turmoil, all over the ground. Nothing could save us at that point,” Stefani said. “There was a point where I was like, ‘I can’t even talk to you. This is insane. I already have enough problems. This is not happening anymore. We’re not going to text or nothing.'”<\/p>\n

Stefani and Shelton first met in 2014 when she joined “The Voice” as a coach for its seventh season. At that time, both were navigating the end of their respective marriages\u2014Stefani to Gavin Rossdale and Shelton to Miranda Lambert. By July 2015, both had finalized their divorces.<\/p>\n

Initially, Stefani wasn’t ready for a new relationship after her divorce, but Shelton was convinced there was something special between them. He expressed his feelings by writing a song for her despite not being a frequent songwriter himself.<\/p>\n

The result was “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” a duet released in 2016. “He sent it to me, and it was a half-written song. He was like, ‘Help me finish this.’ So I wrote him the verse back \u2013 the second verse on the song \u2013 and it’s just over text,” she recalled. “That was our first song that we ever wrote together. We were never even in the same room, but we were writing a song to each other.”<\/p>\n

After winning her over with the song, the couple began dating officially in 2015 and tied the knot in July 2021 in an intimate ceremony at Shelton’s property in Oklahoma.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on her past, Stefani expressed the pain of not being able to keep her family unit with Rossdale intact. She shares three children with her ex-husband: Kingston, 18, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 10.<\/p>\n

“Something that I wanted since I was a little girl is to be married and have this love that I saw my parents have and have babies,” she explained. “That dream was completely ruined; it was crushed, and I had to figure out how I was going to move forward and make a new dream, and God putting Blake in my life was just that miracle.”<\/p>\n

Despite their different musical backgrounds, Stefani and Shelton have collaborated on many songs, including “Nobody But You,” “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” “Happy Anywhere,” and “Purple Irises” from Stefani’s latest album, “Bouquet.”<\/p>\n

Music has been a common ground for the couple, as Stefani mentioned during an appearance on Jennifer Hudson’s talk show in October. She described her husband as a jukebox.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve learned so much from him. He is literally so gifted when it comes to just hearing music, Stefani told the outlet, explaining she often goes to him for opinions on her music. I always rely on him. We always play each other our music.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
