Model and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo married San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey in Rhode Island on Saturday, and Culpo made sure that her wedding dress, designed by Dolce & Gabbana, reflected the seriousness of the event. \u201cIt\u2019s a covenant. It\u2019s the beginning of the rest of your life\u2014and it\u2019s the union and bond of two people forever. I wanted something that felt as serious as that commitment,\u201d she told Vogue<\/em><\/a>. <\/em>In an industry where naked wedding dresses have become the trend, that meant the Culpo opted for a much more traditional look, with a long-sleeve crew neck ball gown and wide, flowing skirt. The outfit also included a 16-foot lace veil. \u201cI didn\u2019t want it to exude sex in any way, shape, or form. I wanted it to feel effortless and as if it\u2019s complimenting me, not overpowering me. There\u2019s so much beauty and simplicity,\u201d she said. She also opted for minimal makeup. The look reflects the love Culpo feels from her now-husband. \u201cWhen I think about Christian and what he loves and the moments that he thinks that I\u2019m most beautiful, it\u2019s absolutely in something like this: timeless, covered, and elegant.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair\u2019s top priority was to be married in a church, which also solidified Culpo\u2019s choice of a more traditional look. Even more so, she found that the design Dolce & Gabbana created for her didn\u2019t look like anything she found on the internet. \u201cThat\u2019s what made me even more excited about this vision,\u201d she said, saying the dress she wore was \u201cexactly the same as the original sketch.\u201d \u201cThis is the first, last, and only wedding dress I tried on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now that the two have tied the knot, babies may soon be in Culpo\u2019s future. The model had expressed a desire to start a family soon after the wedding. \u201cI feel like the day after my wedding, I\u2019m just gonna rip out my IUD and start trying immediately,\u201d she told People<\/a> in a previous interview. It\u2019s a serious turnaround for Culpo, who at one point thought she\u2019d remain a bachelorette. \u201cPray for your future husband. That\u2019s what worked for me. I got down on my hands and knees and I said, \u2018God, please, show me a better way.\u2019 I wrote down exactly what I wanted.
