Preston Cobb’s life tremendously changed just 22 days before his wedding after he was involved in a chemical spill accident. As a result, he lost his left leg, all of the toes on his right foot and all of his fingers on both hands except his thumbs. As well as suffering severe burns on his body. While lying in his hospital bed, he told his fianc\u00e9e, Tanesha Cobb, that he would understand if she didn’t want to go forward with their wedding. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t blame her,\u201d said Preston Cobb, 34. \u201cShe looked at me like I was crazy.\u201d Tanesha wasn’t going anywhere. \u201cI was just thankful that he was still alive,\u201d Tanesha, 33, told People. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t change the person he is inside. It doesn\u2019t change the love that he shows me every single day.\u201d With the help of the nursing staff, the pair was able to keep their wedding date of July 22, 2023 and tied the knot in the hospital. “That day showed me that true love never fails, it will always come through,” Preston said.<\/p>\n

The couple from Georgia has known each other their entire life. \u201cI\u2019ve always had a crush on her,\u201d said Preston, who admitted that he thought she was out of his league. In April 2020, he started messaging her on social media. \u201cShe kept friend-zoning me,\u201d he recalled. \u201cShe finally gave me a chance, and we\u2019ve been rocking ever since.\u201d By September 2020, they were engaged.<\/p>\n

Tanesha was at the airport about to board her flight to New Orleans for her bachelorette trip when Preston called her to tell her about his accident. \u201cI knew he wasn\u2019t okay and that he needed me,\u201d recalled Tanesha. Preston told Tanesha that he was not the same man that she agreed to marry and offered to release her from the engagement. “I knew it was going to be a very long road for recovery,” he said. “This is not how I imagined us spending the rest of our lives together.” Tanesha stood by him, telling him that this would not change her love for him and how much she wanted to be with him. \u201cShe makes life worth living,\u201d said Preston, who has had more than 40 surgeries to date. \u201cGod knew what he was doing when he put us together.
