A marriage license pop-up has been set up at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas from December 26th through New Year’s Eve. Weddings are often a popular topic in Las Vegas, but with New Year’s Eve falling on the rare, special date of “12-31-23,” many people are expecting to see high numbers of weddings on the special date. \u201cIt\u2019s a double whammy,\u201d said Melody Willis-Williams, president of Vegas Weddings. Anytime you get these specialty dates, they\u2019re always hugely popular. But tie that in with New Year\u2019s Eve and it\u2019s a showstopper.\u201d The record number of single-day marriages in Las Vegas is 4,492 on July 7, 2007 or “07-07-07.” The second most popular date on record in November 11, 2011 or “11-11-11” where 3,125 couples tied the knot.<\/p>\n

Clark County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya said that couples married on “specialty dates” have described them as “magic dates” that are easy to remember. \u201cI think the celebration that has a group dynamic is really appealing,\u201d Goya said. \u201cWhen everyone is in line and they\u2019re all getting married and excited about being in love, it just enhances their own experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many couples already took advantage of the pop-up in the airport to go ahead and obtain their marriage license ahead of their Vegas wedding. “I was like, this is so much easier to just come right here, so we just walked on in,” said Hayley, who is preparing for her Vegas wedding and took advantage of the marriage license bureau pop-up. “We\u2019re getting married tomorrow at the Little White Chapel, and we heard about the pop-up event from this sign here in the airport\u2026as we just got off our flight,” she said. “The marriage certificate here was very easy [to] access. We were able to take the shuttle from the\u00a0international terminal\u00a0instead of having to go downtown. It was easier access,” said Ellery Mendz, another marriage certificate receiver.<\/p>\n

“We think it\u2019s going to be one of the biggest days of the year. I would not be surprised if we get 1,000 or 1,200 couples that get married on New Year\u2019s Eve,” Goya said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
