Singer and actress Kelly Rowland recently reflected on the struggles and joys of parenting in an interview with Kindred by Parents. She told the outlet<\/a>, \u201cI just want to get this right. I want to really be part of bringing some really amazing young men forth into the world. That was my only prayer.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI don\u2019t know why I\u2019m emotional, but my only prayer was to have really great young Black men in this world who were sure of themselves and didn\u2019t have to be told who they were. I really cared about that because the narrative is tough as it is.\u201d Rowland shares two sons, Titan and Noah, with her husband, Tim Weatherspoon.<\/p>\n

The musician highlighted the importance of celebrating and fostering children and their interests. She said, \u201cIf we\u2019re going to grow our kids, like, let\u2019s be lost in their interests and the things that bring them joy. Let\u2019s have joy with them about it.\u201d Rowland added, \u201cI\u2019ll sit out here and watch him do basketball or do whatever it is that he loves so much because I want him to know that I see it. It\u2019s wonderful. It\u2019s worth celebrating. You\u2019re worth celebrating. Your try is worth celebrating. I love all that is you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her faith also informs her parenting. The singer shared how after her son Titan was upset, she helped him visualize \u201cFootprints in the Sand\u201d by Mary Stevenson. She told the outlet, \u201cTitan confirmed that he could see his own footprints and God\u2019s, the expanse of the sky and the blue of the ocean in his mind\u2019s eye.\u201d<\/p>\n
