In the first picture, which was taken from their 2005 wedding, you can see Downey lovingly pressing his face against Susan&#8217;s as she holds a beautiful bouquet of pink flowers. In the second photo, the pair is seen recreating their wedding photo while Susan holds a bouquet of yellow flowers. He captioned the photos, \u201c18 years, love still in bloom!!\u201d Many of Downey&#8217;s celebrity friends commented to congratulate the couple on their long-lasting marriage. &#8220;Hawkeye&#8221; actor Jeremy Renner commented on the post saying, \u201cThese are the best photos Robert! At first, Susan wasn&#8217;t too sure about Robert, but she eventually agreed to a date with the actor, and the rest was history. Within a few months, the pair was engaged and two years later, they tied the knot. They share two children together: Exton, 11, and Avri, 8. Downey also shares son Indio, 29, with his first wife Deborah Folconer.<\/p>\n<p>Downey has been vocal about his battle with addiction in the past and gives credit to Susan for helping him overcome his struggles. The actor recalls the conversation he had with Susan in 2003 where she encouraged him to end his addiction once and for all. In 2022, the pair spoke about that conversation while talking to The Hollywood Reporter\u00a0at\u00a0An Afternoon With Robert Downey Jr. event for LA3C. \u201cWith someone with\u00a0addiction you know it has nothing to do with someone else, they have to be ready,\u201d Susan said. \u201cIf you can be a small part of creating an alternative world for them that says, \u2018Hey I\u2019m here if you\u2019re clean.&#8217;\u201d She added, \u201cThere\u2019s no credit I will ever take other than basically saying, \u2018Here\u2019s what I need to have happen, or more importantly what can\u2019t be happening,\u2019 but it\u2019s entirely that person.\u201d Robert responded saying it was \u201cthe clearest conversation I\u2019ve ever had in my life.\u201d He added, \u201cYou know when someone is being so clear with you with something you go, \u2018There is zero wiggle room here.&#8217;\u201d Downey concluded saying, \u201cUltimatums work.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Robert Downey Jr. is celebrating 18 years of marriage with wife Susan Downey.
