Recently, the actor shared in a GQ interview that everything changed when he met Eva Mendes while filming the 2012 crime drama \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=G07pSbHLXgg\">The Place Beyond the Pines<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gq.com\/story\/ryan-gosling-summer-2023-cover-profile-ken-barbie\">Gosling said of Mendes<\/a>, \u201cIt\u2019s true that I wasn\u2019t thinking about kids before I met her, but after I met Eva, I realized that I just didn\u2019t want to have kids without her.\u201d He continued, \u201cAnd there were moments on \u2018The Place Beyond the Pines\u2019 where we were pretending to be a family, and I didn\u2019t really want it to be pretend anymore. I realized this would be a life I would be really lucky to have.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The couple may or may not be married and has two children. Gosling, a former child actor who rose to stardom in films including 2004\u2019s \u201cThe Notebook\u201d and 2011\u2019s \u201cDrive,\u201d said he would \u201cnever want to go back\u201d to his life before having kids. \u201cI\u2019m glad I didn\u2019t have control over my destiny in that way because it was so much better than I ever had dreamed for myself,\u201d he told GQ.<\/p>\n<p>Gosling was at the top of the industry with an Oscar nomination for \u201cLa La Land\u201d in 2016 and the leading role in the Neil Armstrong biopic \u201cFirst Man\u201d in 2018, but he took a four-year hiatus from Hollywood. He\u2019s returned to Hollywood with more mainstream movies like the upcoming \u201cBarbie\u201d movie and \u201cThe Gray Man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dLhTIg_LTQg\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The actor told GQ he put the brakes on his career when Mendes had their second daughter, and he \u201cwanted to spend as much time\u201d as possible with them. He even chose his recent role in \u201cThe Gray Man\u201d partly because it allowed him to take his family with him, he told Heat magazine last year,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/article-11073267\/Ryan-Gosling-gives-rare-insight-fatherhood-partner-Eva-Mendes.html\">per the Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know it\u2019s funny, we went to France, and we went everywhere \u2014 we went to the Louvre and all these things,\u201d he said in the 2022 interview. \u201cAnd if I asked them now, \u2018What was your favorite part about France?\u2019 They will say, \u2018The fruit plate at the hotel.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have chosen to keep their relationship private for their reasons. However, it\u2019s impressive how our thought processes can change when we meet our person. Until he met Eva Mendes, Ryan Gosling was set on not having children.
