News reporter asked about their long-lasting marriage, saying, \u201cWe were texting this afternoon because we were not together until right before the red carpet because he was really busy, and you were flirting with me. I\u2019m just saying you were flirting pretty hard.\u201d The songstress added that their relationship is \u201calways a first date, you know? It just really is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brooks praised his wife, telling E! News, \u201cCome on, you can see why I\u2019m in love with her\u201d when asked why he thinks their relationship has lasted so long. The couple got married in 2005, and she\u2019s the stepmother to his three children, Taylor, August and Allie, from his marriage to Sandy Mahl.<\/p>\n<p>Yearwood added that their marriage boils down to \u201cfriendship, laughter and mutual respect\u2014and just love.\u201d Dolly Parton recently joked to Fox News Digital that she would\u00a0have to \u201cbe nice\u201d to Brooks, her ACM Awards co-host, because Yearwood would be there. Parton continued, \u201cI\u2019ve known them for a long time; they\u2019re both just wonderful. I don\u2019t know if she\u2019s singing or not, but I know she\u2019s there, so I\u2019ll have to be nice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nmQX-DAG8x0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>During the show, she also joked with Brooks that she heard she was a \u201chall pass\u201d for Yearwood and Brooks. After he called Parton the G.O.A.T, or greatest of all time, she made him blush by joking that the acronym stands for \u201cGarth organized a threesome.\u201d Brooks was red as he responded, \u201cAnd I thought I couldn\u2019t love you anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yearwood openly discussed their marriage in 2021 with <em>US Weekly<\/em>, describing she and Brooks as \u201cvery much alphas.\u201d She elaborated, \u201cWe\u2019re both independent people who run our own ships. Sometimes, when two people are driving two big ships, it can be difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, she says their marriage is currently \u201cbetter than ever,\u201d saying, \u201cI was always the person in relationships when things got difficult, I was really happy to just bail. I was good at that. So in this situation, that\u2019s not an option because this is the love of my life, so you sit down and talk it through, and that gets you better when you get to the other side.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks have been married for 18 years.
