Actor Dean Cain, best known for his role as Superman\/ Clark Kent in <\/span>Lois and Clark<\/span><\/em>, has kept busy through the years. He has appeared in many films and shows, with a slew of faith-based films, and he also hosts \u201c<\/span>Masters of Illusion<\/span><\/a>.\u201d He is also preparing for the release of his film,\u00a0<\/span>Little Angels<\/span><\/em><\/a>, which is in post-production. Cain wrote, directed, and starred in the film. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to get it out there, it\u2019s a very personal project. It deals with a big-time college football coach. It\u2019s a great fun story like \u2018The Mighty Ducks.\u2019 It\u2019s a feel-good family movie, and I am proud of it,\u201d he\u00a0<\/span>said<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, despite all the success and accolades, Cain\u2019s role as a father to his son Christopher, 22, remains his most important. Speaking with <\/span>Christian Headlines<\/span><\/em><\/a>, he credited his son for being part of the reason he takes roles in children\u2019s and faith-based films. \u201cI started making kids movies when he was a little kid… Not all the films I make are faith-based, and they\u2019re not all inspirational, but a large majority are because I want my son to be able to see those films, I want him to learn from them. I want him to watch the way I\u2019m living my life and the choices that I\u2019m making and say, \u2018I see why he\u2019s doing that. I see why he wants to help out,\u2019\u201d he said. He also stated his son has increased his faith. \u201cMy faith really got stronger, much stronger, and I really had to face it and discuss it once I became a father. That changed everything. Suddenly someone\u2019s more important on this earth than me. … And then I have to explain to him the world and the rules of the world and why we\u2019re here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Christopher was born to Cain and Cain\u2019s ex-girlfriend, Samantha Torres, and the two embarked on a bitter custody battle from 2003-2011 when Cain was granted sole custody of his son. In an interview with\u00a0<\/span>Fox News<\/span><\/em><\/a>, Cain shared he turned down more lucrative roles in order to focus on his son. \u201cIt affected my career like I can\u2019t even explain. I turned down being one of, if not the highest-paid actor on television, for a show that ended up going six years. The contract was very attractive. But I was in the middle of a custody dispute, so I could either be a father or take that job. It took me a split second, not even a split second,\u201d he said. He shared that his own father, who adopted him when he was 4, inspired him to put fatherhood first. \u201cNothing in my life has been as big a factor as having my father there to raise me. Fathers in the home are such a huge, important issue here in America and all throughout the world. The statistics bear it out how much more likely a kid is, especially a son, to be in jail or in trouble without a father in the household. And I just think it\u2019s hugely important, and I would never change what I\u2019ve done in terms of being a father vs. a career.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
