Actor and former NFL player Terry Crews praised his wife, Rebecca King-Crews, at the 30th annual Movieguide Awards for being a “praying woman.” The 54-year-old was the host at this year’s awards show and spoke with the <\/span>Christian Post<\/span><\/a>\u00a0about his family. “She’s a praying woman,” he said. “She has prayed us through so many things. One thing I know is that to have a woman like that, who really wants the best for you, let me tell you, there’s no replacing. It’s absolutely the best feeling in the world,” he added. The two have been married since 1989 and have five children.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Their marriage has been anything but easy, with Crews having struggled with pornography addiction for twenty years, nearly destroying their marriage with Crews being unfaithful. The two even separated for a time, with Rebecca turning to God and music for relief. “‘God, what do I do?'” she\u00a0<\/span>recalled<\/span><\/a>\u00a0crying out after a particular fight between the two. She turned to writing. “That started a journey with my writing, where I write whatever is going on in my life. I write about some of the pain that I’ve gone through, write about some of the things people have shared with me, their stories of heartbreak \u2014 and God’s faithfulness.” The two were able to reconcile through counseling, even going on a\u00a0<\/span>90-day sex fast<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to help Terry break his addiction. “Today, I look at my husband, and I always say he’s a better man than me. He took hold of the Word of God, and he took hold of the Scriptures, and he just ran with all his might. He said, ‘God, I don’t want to be like this anymore.’ And he amazes me every day. He really is the kinder, gentler version of Terry Crews because he let God do a work in his life,” Rebecca previously told the Christian Post.<\/span><\/p>\n

Terry had been addicted to pornography since he was 9 years old. He was born in Flint, Michigan, to an alcoholic father and a mother who was\u00a0<\/span>“addicted to religion.”<\/span><\/a>\u00a0“We weren’t allowed to listen to music. We weren’t allowed to go to dances. We weren’t allowed to go to the movies. We were in church a lot. I have to say, probably in a seven-day week, we were in church four out of those seven days, and then we went twice on Sunday,” he recalled to Relevant Magazine. With his pornography addiction and legalistic religious background, Terry grew up feeling like he was leading a double life until he finally spoke to his pastor and began the long journey to recovery. “I think every true Christian lives his life with a will to meaning,” Crews concluded about those hard days. “Because pleasure and power, they all fade, they don’t last. But you can find meaning in suffering.” Nowadays, both he and his wife say their relationship is “tight.” Crews said that his faith is what helped him to know that hosting the Movieguide awards, which honors family-friendly entertainment, was perfect for him. “I just feel the blessing, I feel all the good energy here tonight, and it’s wonderful!” he announced.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
