The Chiefs beat the Philadephia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII to secure their second championship since the 2019 season.<\/p>\n<p>It was a game they weren&#8217;t picked to win by most analysts. Although they were down by 10 at halftime, the reigning MVP stepped up to help Kansas City win the game, 38-35. In a tweet, Brittany Mahomes wrote, &#8220;I think a lot of people need to apologize for what they said about this team at the beginning of this season.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The noise crept in at the beginning of the season as division rivals like the Denver Broncos, and Las Vegas Raiders added impact players to their offenses. The Chiefs traded away one big receiver, Tyreek Hill, to the Miami Dolphins. The Broncos acquired quarterback Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks, and the Raiders traded for wide receiver Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers.<\/p>\n<p>But the notion of high-powered offenses was thrown to the wayside. The Broncos sputtered out of the gate. Adams and the Raiders failed to maintain success throughout the season, and the\u00a0Los Angeles Chargers\u00a0couldn&#8217;t find the same consistency as the Chiefs. The\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs quarterback\u00a0became close with Matthews in 2011 when he was just a freshman at Whitehouse High School. After giving her\u00a0a rose and a Valentine&#8217;s Day card\u00a0the following year, the pair&#8217;s friendship morphed into something more. Throughout high school,\u00a0the athletes rooted each other; Mahomes played football and baseball while Matthews was a soccer star, and they were each other&#8217;s go-to dates for dances in the gym.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0teenage sweethearts\u00a0went to different colleges, but both stayed in Texas, which helped keep their relationship alive. Top of FormThe couple has been\u00a0by each other&#8217;s sides through all the highs and lows\u00a0of their adult years, including Mahomes winning\u00a0Super Bowl LIV in 2020\u00a0and losing\u00a0Super Bowl LV in 2021. Between his Super Bowl appearances,\u00a0the quarterback proposed to his longtime love\u00a0on the day he received his championship ring at Arrowhead Stadium in September 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The same month, the pair announced\u00a0they were expecting their first baby\u00a0together,\u00a0a little girl. They welcomed their daughter Sterling in February 2021. The couple\u00a0tied the knot\u00a0in Hawaii in March 2022, where Sterling served as their flower girl.<\/p>\n<p>Two months later, Matthews and Mahomes announced that\u00a0they are expecting Baby No. 2. &#8220;Round 2!&#8221; the pair wrote via a joint Instagram post, posing in multiple photos with Sterling proudly displaying her &#8220;big sister&#8221; status on her shirt. Patrick and Brittany welcomed their son,\u00a0Patrick &#8220;Bronze&#8221; Lavon Mahomes III, on Nov. 28, 2022.
