Hubert and June Malicote, both 100, have had a strong romance for nearly 8 decades, and that romance ended for them when the pair passed away just hours apart. \u201cThey went out together,\u201d said their son, Sam.<\/p>\n

The couple had hosted a family Thanksgiving pizza party, but that ended in June falling ill that evening. After being taken to the doctor late that night, she was placed in hospice care to receive end of life care. Seeing his wife in that state seemed to be too much for Hubert which immediately resulted in his family admitting him into end of life care in the same room as his wife. \u201cHe fell apart, really,\u201d Sam said. The couple remained in hospice care together, holding hands, until Hubert peacefully passed away at 9:15 p.m. on November 30th. Just 20 hours later, June passed away at 5:40 p.m. on November 1st. Their son Sam stated that he truly believes his father passed away from a broken heart.\u00a0\u201cI feel sad, but I shouldn\u2019t,\u201d Sam said. \u201cWho can expect to live a life like that? They lived a long, happy life together and they were devoted to God and the family.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lovebirds met at church in 1941 in their home state of Kentucky and it seemed to be love at first sight. \u201cWhen I saw her, I said she\u2019ll be a good one,\u201d Hubert told Cincinnati’s WKRC-TV in back in July when they celebrated their 100th birthdays and anniversary milestone. The couple went on to share three kids together, Sam, Jo, and Theresa, with 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n

Hubert and June spoke to Today in June where they revealed that they had never been in a serious fight, which was supported by their daughter, Jo. \u201cWe didn\u2019t go through life without problems, but we would never do anything to hurt each other,\u201d said Hubert. \u201cIf there\u2019s controversy, you might have to walk away for a couple minutes. Then you come back in and change the subject or you work it out.\u201d Hubert went on to say that them as a team was pretty special by saying, \u201cIt\u2019s kind of like if we aren\u2019t together, the team is broken.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
