Kathie Lee Gifford spoke to Fox News Digital last week, discussing various topics such as Kelly Ripa\u2019s experiences<\/a> with Gifford\u2019s former cohost, Regis Philbin, her new book and faith projects<\/a>, and marriage<\/a>. In speaking on marriage, she defended the institution as something from God. \u201cGod loves marriage,\u201d she said. \u201cGod instituted marriage for a reason, for a purpose. Family is so important to God. \u2026 Marriages are under attack. Monogamy is under attack,\u201d she said. A poll<\/a> in 2016 showed that nearly a third (32%) of Americans describe their ideal relationship as non-monogamous. Millennials were the highest group, with 43% showing a preference for non-monogamous relationships, while 43% also stated a preference for a purely monogamous relationship. 25% of baby boomers and 30% of Generation X stated a preference for non-monogamous relationships. 23% of those polled described their current relationship as non-monogamous, with 12% stating they\u2019d had sex with another person with the consent of their partner. Another study<\/a> found that 1 in 6 Americans desire to be in a polyamorous<\/a> relationship while 1 in 9 have been in a polyamorous relationship.<\/p>\n

Gifford also addressed divorce, saying, \u201cI think marriage should be a holy alliance. Now, there are reasons why certain people should get divorced, and they have physical reasons to \u2026 I don\u2019t know their first story. I just know that I\u2019m sorry to them and their children.\u201d Gifford spoke during a time when the media is abuzz with the possibility of a Tom Brady\/ Gisele B\u00fcndchen divorce<\/a>. The couple have been married since 2009 and the pair are reportedly<\/a> preparing for divorce due to Brady not retiring from football as he had promised. Gifford did not reference the pair specifically, however they do have 2 children together, as well as a third from Brady\u2019s previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.<\/p>\n

Gifford had her own struggles in her marriage, including the very public infidelity<\/a> of her late husband, Frank Gifford. Frank was found to be unfaithful in 1997, however rather than divorce, Kathie Lee chose to forgive him and the two remained married for nearly thirty years, until Frank\u2019s death in 2015. In previously speaking about saving her marriage, Gifford said, \u201cWe stayed together, we saved our marriage, we saved \u2014 by God’s grace \u2014 our children. I knew my children would be very, very different people if we had broken up at that time.\u201d Gifford had two children with Frank, Cody and Cassidy. Gifford continues to speak well of her late husband despite the infidelity and stated in 2017<\/a> she was very particular about who she would date, saying she had ended a date due to the man\u2019s lack of faith. \u201cHe didn\u2019t share my faith and couldn\u2019t understand why I didn\u2019t want to be with him,\u201d she\u2019d said. \u201cI said, \u2018My faith isn\u2019t something I do on Sunday mornings for an hour. My faith is me, and I\u2019m not going to share my life with somebody or even another hour of my life on a date with you if you don\u2019t share the same passion for your faith as I do.\u201d Gifford has been romantically linked to an insurance agent, Randy Cronk<\/a>, since Frank\u2019s death and she has been very coy about the current status of the relationship. While it\u2019s unclear what her relationship is like today, Gifford\u2019s convictions on marriage are very clear. As one friend was quoted<\/a> when speaking about Gifford\u2019s relationship with Cronk, \u201cshe\u2019s not willing to compromise her beliefs about marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
