One area, in particular, Cooper and Bieber discussed were the rumors of a rivalry between Hailey and Selena Gomez, Bieber\u2019s former on-again-off-again girlfriend. \u201cI respect her; there\u2019s no drama, personally,\u201d Hailey said after stating she had in fact talked to Gomez since she and Justin tied the knot four years ago. \u201cSo that\u2019s why I\u2019m like, it\u2019s all respect, it\u2019s all love. That\u2019s also why I feel like, well, if everybody on our side knows what happened and we\u2019re good, and we could walk away from it with clarity and respect, then that\u2019s fine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gomez and Bieber\u2019s romance <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/music\/justin-bieber-selena-gomez-relationship-look-back\/\">spanned<\/a> from 2010 to 2018, with Justin and Hailey dating in between one of Gomez and Bieber\u2019s breaks in 2016 before the pair broke it off. Justin and Selena briefly reunited in 2018 then broke up for a final time before Hailey and Justin reconnected in 2018. It wasn\u2019t long before the two were engaged and married, sparking rumors that Hailey was a \u201chomewrecker\u201d that had been dating Justin while he\u2019d still been with Gomez. Hailey was adamant in denying those rumors. \u201cI can say, period, point blank, I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody \u2014 that\u2019s the end of it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen him and I ever started like hooking up or like anything of that sort, he was not ever in a relationship, ever at any point,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s not my character to mess with someone\u2019s relationship. I would just never do that.\u201d She did state that she understands where the rumors come from and that, \u201chow it looks from the outside and there\u2019s a lot of perception there, but that was a situation where I know for a fact that it was the right thing for [Selena and Justin] to close that door.\u201d She also talked about the harassment she had received from \u201cJelena\u201d fans, the name for Justin and Selena\u2019s relationship. However, she said she\u2019s learned to focus on her relationship. \u201cThey\u2019ve never ruined anything for me. They\u2019re not ruining my life, they\u2019re not ruining my happiness and that, I think, is the real win of the whole thing. You\u2019re actually not taking anything away from me. So that\u2019s what I keep stepping forward with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The last year has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harpersbazaar.com\/celebrity\/latest\/a40374953\/justin-hailey-bieber-unbreakable-health-issues\/\">tough<\/a> for the Biebers. Hailey was hospitalized in March of this year after experiencing stroke-like symptoms after complications from a blood clot. Then in June, Justin revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which had caused partial facial paralysis. He briefly returned to performing but recently <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/justin-bieber-cancels-world-tour-citing-health-concerns\/\">announced<\/a> he was canceling his world tour to concentrate on his mental health.
