Britney Spears has apparently lost her faith after an audio recording<\/a> surfaced of her criticizing her sons\u2019 treatment of her and claiming that the situation has caused her to become an atheist. \u201cThere is nothing to believe in anymore. I\u2019m an atheist y\u2019all,\u201d she said in the recording, which was formerly on Instagram but can now be found on YouTube. She criticized her sons, Jayden, 15, and Sean, 16, for, \u201csecretly loved looking at me as if something was wrong with me.\u201d The singer then stated that the situation should not have happened if God were real. \u201cGod would not [have allowed] that to happen to me if God existed. I don\u2019t believe in God anymore because of the way my children and my family have treated me.\u201d She also implied that her sons are being so critical because in a few years they will not be eligible to receive anymore of her money. \u201cI needed unconditional love and support,\u201d she said of her situation with her family.<\/p>\n

Spears famously went through a mental breakdown in 2007, shaving her head and publicly attacking paparazzi. The event led to her father, Jamie Spears, gaining a conservatorship of the singer in 2008 and he maintained the conservatorship until last year. The conservatorship came to light after the documentary, \u201cFraming Britney Spears,\u201d was released, which greatly criticized Jamie\u2019s handling of the conservatorship and implied there was abuse involved. The outcry led to the #FreeBritney movement, with a judge finally ending the conservatorship towards the end of 2021. Unfortunately, the end of the conservatorship has not ended all of Britney\u2019s problems.<\/p>\n

The audio appeared to be due to a recent interview that Spears\u2019s ex-husband, Kevin Federline, and their younger son, Jayden, released through ITV<\/a>. In the interview, Federline stated that he believed Spears\u2019s conservatorship saved her life. \u201c100% I feel like [Jamie Spears] saved her back then,\u201d he said in the interview. He also discussed how the singer\u2019s social media has made their sons uncomfortable. Spears has released a series of near-naked photos on her accounts since the conservatorship ended. \u201cI apologize for them, to them, for them because I can\u2019t imagine how it feels to be a teenager, having to go to high school. Who knows how many people ask them about it or talk to them about it,\u201d Federline said of the posts. Jayden also spoke about his issues with his mother. \u201cSocial media helps her\u2026 So if that\u2019s what she wants to do that\u2019s what she wants to do, I\u2019m not going to hate her for that. At the same time, she should come to the realization of whatever it is that stops her loving her family.\u201d Despite not having seen his mother for months, the teen spoke openly about hopes for reconciliation. \u201cI 100% think this can be fixed. It\u2019s just going to take a lot of time and effort. I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better I really want to see her again.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pop star has not always been so against God. When she was trying to get her conservatorship removed, she told a judge she preferred to talk to God over attending intensive therapy. In an interview with V Magazine<\/a> in 2016, she stated, \u201cI have my relationship with God and myself and that\u2019s what matters to me. I really don\u2019t care what most people think.\u201d She has also posted a series of Bible verses to her Twitter in the past and just a few days before the audio was shared, she wrote on her Instagram, \u201cI\u2019m a child of God as well; we all are in God\u2019s eyes.\u201d With the pain of her conservatorship, it seems Britney Spears still has a lot more to go through yet.
