Country music singer Karen Waldrup is opening up about the painful end of her marriage, and the nightly habit she says helped carry her through one of the darkest seasons of her life: taking her Bible to bed with her.<\/p>\n

Waldrup, who finished in the top five on Season 25 of “The Voice,” told Fox News Digital that her Christian faith became her foundation as she went through a divorce in the fall of 2025 while continuing to record music and perform.<\/p>\n

“I was actually sleeping with my Bible every single night, in the bed with me at night,” Waldrup said. “I was waking up every morning, opening my scripture and reading it. My faith was definitely the foundation of what got me through that.”<\/p>\n

The Louisiana-born singer-songwriter publicly revealed the end of her marriage in February, telling fans that she had spent considerable time processing the experience privately.<\/p>\n

“After a lot of time, reflection and prayer, I’m ready to share that my marriage has ended in divorce,” she wrote on Facebook at the time. “This has been a deeply personal journey.”<\/p>\n

That pain also found its way into her music.<\/p>\n

Waldrup said she was going through an especially difficult day when she recorded “Keeping the Faith,” a song about holding on to hope and moving forward when life does not unfold as expected.<\/p>\n

“It was the toughest day that I’ve ever been in the studio,” she recalled. “And I didn’t know if it was even going to come out good because I felt so broken.”<\/p>\n

Instead, Waldrup believes that brokenness gave the song greater emotional depth.<\/p>\n

“I think you can kind of hear it in the vocal, the desperation of keeping the faith,” she said.<\/p>\n

Waldrup said divorce meant watching her dream of a lifelong marriage disappear, an experience she described as “so heartbreaking.” But she also believes the struggle ultimately made her stronger.<\/p>\n

Her faith wasn’t the only source of support. Waldrup deliberately limited the people she turned to for advice, creating a small circle consisting of God and five trusted friends.<\/p>\n

“My friends believed in me,” she said. “They believed I would get through it. They never doubted me.”<\/p>\n

The singer said the approach helped protect her from being overwhelmed by the many opinions that can surround someone going through a divorce. Instead, she leaned on “my faith, my scripture and my friends.”<\/p>\n

Waldrup, who has released seven studio albums and more than 50 songs, now says she sees her music as something larger than a career.<\/p>\n

“I do think part of my purpose in music is to inspire,” she said. “This music is a gift, this show is a gift, this moment is a gift.”<\/p>\n

And even after one of the most difficult seasons of her life, Waldrup says that purpose remains rooted in God.<\/p>\n

“I don’t really need to be important,” she said. “All I need to do is do God’s work.”<\/p>\n
