Throughout the summit, speakers repeatedly argued that today’s “girl boss” culture has encouraged women to prioritize careers, independence and political activism over what they described as God’s design for women.

“At its core, feminism is a worldview that treats many of the things that make women uniquely women as obstacles to overcome, rather than divine gifts to embrace,” said Erika Kirk, widow of late TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, during the conference’s opening speech Friday night.

That message appeared to resonate deeply with many attendees.

“Ultimately, my goal is to become a mother and a wife,” a 19-year-old TPUSA chapter founder named Josie told Religion News Service. “So, in a world that is very much dominated by the need to go into the workforce … it feels nice to be around people that are supporting something I’ve strived for my whole life.”

Josie, a Catholic from Washington state, said her views are rooted in her Christian faith. She attended the summit wearing a pin that read, “It’s not political, it’s Biblical.”

The event highlighted what many conservatives see as a growing divide among young Americans, particularly young men and women. Recent polling suggests younger women are becoming increasingly secular and politically progressive, while many young conservative men are moving in the opposite direction.

Speakers at the summit argued that feminism has played a major role in that divide by convincing women that motherhood and family life are less meaningful than career success or personal independence.

“We have to win these women, and it is literally, you know, for me it’s mission critical, but I think for world civilization, it’s critical,” said Kristan Hawkins.

The summit mixed political messaging with a festival atmosphere. Attendees browsed booths filled with patriotic merchandise, supplements and Western-inspired fashion while Christian worship music and pop songs played through loudspeakers. Posters throughout the venue carried slogans such as “RESTORE Masculinity RESPECT Femininity” and “GET MARRIED START A FAMILY.”

Many attendees said one of the biggest draws was simply being surrounded by other young women who shared their worldview.

Two first-time attendees, 16-year-olds Madelyn Snodgrass of Texas and Aubrianna Schmidt of California, said they became politically active after hearing Erika Kirk speak following her husband’s assassination earlier this year.

“She said something along the lines of, ‘You’re not too young, get involved, start a chapter,'” Schmidt recalled. “I was like, you know what, yeah, I’m gonna do that.”

Still, the summit was not without tension. Days before the event, authorities arrested a man accused of threatening to bomb the gathering. Protesters also demonstrated outside the hotel during the conference, while a heckler briefly interrupted a speech inside the venue.

Some attendees interpreted the protests as evidence that conservative Christian values are increasingly under attack in American culture.

At the same time, many speakers framed the summit as a response to broader confusion among Gen Z, particularly around identity, purpose and relationships.

“Gen Z is really searching for answers to existential questions,” said activist and former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines. “What is my purpose? Why am I here?”

Gaines, who frequently speaks about faith, politics and motherhood on her podcast, was among several prominent conservative Christian influencers featured at the summit. Alongside personalities like Alex Clark and Daily Wire commentator Isabel Brown, Gaines presented a vision of womanhood that encourages women to pursue careers while still placing marriage, motherhood and faith at the center of life.

Brown told attendees that motherhood represents a woman’s most meaningful legacy.

“I would venture to guess that every mother standing on this stage this weekend would, without hesitation, tell you that our greatest legacy … will forever and always be the next generation of saints that we were called to raise,” Brown said Saturday.

She later pointed to the Virgin Mary as an example of biblical femininity and motherhood, noting that Jesus’ mother “never had a corporate career.”

For many at the summit, that message represented more than politics. It reflected a belief that faith, family and motherhood remain central to God’s purpose for women — even as culture increasingly moves in another direction.

For many of the young women gathered at Turning Point USA’s Women’s Leadership Summit in San Antonio this past weekend, modern feminism is no longer viewed as empowering — it’s seen as a direct challenge to biblical womanhood, marriage and motherhood.
