In true low-key fashion, the couple reportedly invited around 100 family members and friends to the ceremony without telling them it was actually a wedding. Guests thought they were simply attending a party.<\/p>\n<p>Long before they became husband and wife, Parker and Broderick\u2019s relationship began in the early 1990s after they were introduced through Parker\u2019s brothers, Pippin and Toby, who founded the Naked Angels Theater Company. Broderick, now 64, was directing a play there at the time.<\/p>\n<p>The couple would later share the Broadway stage together in the 1996 revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, further cementing their bond both personally and professionally.<\/p>\n<p>Parker\u2019s wedding attire also became a memorable part of pop culture history. Instead of wearing a traditional white gown, the actress chose a black dress \u2014 a decision that sparked headlines for years afterward. But Parker later explained the choice had nothing to do with making a fashion statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was too embarrassed to get married in white, and both Matthew and I were reluctant to have people pay so much attention to us,\u201d she told Marie Claire in 2006. \u201cWhich is ridiculous, because that&#8217;s when you can relish the attention, when it&#8217;s natural.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Years later, Parker revealed she wasn\u2019t overly focused on the details of the ceremony or even the dress itself. They welcomed their son, James Wilke, in 2002, naming him after Broderick\u2019s late father, actor James Broderick.
